10th BRICS Summit Johannesburg Declaration

The 2019 BRICS Summit Johannesburg Declaration calls for the development of ” effective policies to bridge the digital divides”. In order to do so, it proposes measures such as ‘supporting people to learn and by adopting new technologies and ensure effective mechanisms for transfer of relevant technologies.’ Moreover, it commends the creation of BRICS Partnership on New Industrial Revolution (PartNIR) which is meant to deepen ‘BRICS cooperation in digitalisation, industrialisation, innovation, inclusiveness and investment, to maximise the opportunities and address the challenges arising from the 4th Industrial Revolution’.
