The Tunis Commitment was a consensus statement of the World Summit on the Information Society, adopted on November 18, 2005 in Tunis, stating its unequivocal support for the Geneva Declaration of Principles and Plan of Action adopted by the World Summit on the Information Society. The signatories expressed their commitment to build a people-centred, inclusive and development-oriented Information Society, based on the principles of the Charter of the United Nations, international law and multilateralism, as well as the Universal Declaration of Human Rights. It also aims to awareness of the benefits of Information and Communication Technologies (ICTs) to humanity and the way in which they can transform people’s activities and lives.
