Hammamet, Tunisia

The World Telecommunication Standardization Assembly 2016 (WTSA-16) will take place on 25 October - 3 November, in Hammamet, Tunisia. On 24 October, the third Global Standards Symposium will be held, at the same location.

WTSA-16 will bring together ITU member states, ITU-T sector members, representatives of other UN specialised agencies, intergovernmental organisations operating satellite systems, other regional and international organisations, and the academic sector. The Assembly is preceded by several preparatory meetings.

WTSA is held every four years, and it sets the overall direction and structure for the ITU Telecommunication Standardization Sector (ITU-T): defining the general policy for the Sector, establishing the study groups, approving their expected work programme for the next four-year period, and appointing their chairmen and vice-chairmen.
