World Forum for Democracy 2017

World Forum for Democracy 2017 will take place on 8–10 November 2017 in Strasbourg, France. This event is held under the patronage of the French government and being co-organised by the Council of Europe, Region Grand Est and the City and 'Eurométropole' of Strasbourg.

The forum aims to review novel initiatives and approaches which can enhance democratic practices and help parties and media, but also other political actors, to reconnect to citizens, make informed choices, and function optimally in 21st century democracy. The event will bring together, inter alia, parliamentarians, policy makers, media professionals, legal professionals, political scientists and advocates to address various topics including social media, big data, fake news, gender equality and political empowerment of women, participatory democracy, and voting.
