The 26-27 May hearings are organized by the Office of the President of the General Assembly, supported by UN DESA, UN-NGLS, the Executive Office of the Secretary-General's Post-2015 Team, and the UN Global Compact, and are aimed at fostering active multi-stakeholder participation in the formulation of the agenda, while ensuring regional and gender balance as well as diversity of expertise, sectors, and age among speakers.
The two-day event will take place in the UN General Assembly Hall from 10:00am-1:00pm and 3:00-6:00pm each day, comprised of an opening segment on the morning of day one, four roundtable discussions following the roadmap of the post-2015 intergovernmental negotiations, and a closing segment at the end of day two. The full meeting will be web cast live.
The opening segment will be presided over by Acting President of the General Assembly, H.E. Mr. Denis G. Antoine, Permanent Representative of Grenada, and will include the participation of UN Secretary-General Ban Ki-moon or his designated representative; H.E. Ambassador Macharia Kamau, Permanent Representative of Kenya to the UN and co-facilitator of the negotiations on the post-2015 development agenda; and several stakeholder speakers.
