The ninth edition of the Regional Latin American and Caribbean Preparatory Meeting for the Internet Governance Forum (LACIGF)  will take place in San Jose, Costa Rica, on 27-29 July 2016. LACIGF has been held annually since 2008 and offers a multistakeholder dialogue and meeting space for government, private sector, technical community, academia and civil society actors to share and discuss their views on the regional Internet governance agenda.

Over the past few years, the region has made progress in understanding current Internet governance challenges, creating a space for debating and identifying regional priorities that has significantly broadened the region's participation in the Internet Governance Forum (IGF). The agenda includes sessions on: privacy, net neutrality, access, Internet intermediary liability, online human rights in Latin America and the Caribbean, among others.
