Manaus, Brazil

The Brazilian Internet Governance Forum (IGF) has been promoted annually by the Brazilian Internet Steering Committee (CGI.br) since 2011 as a preparatory activity for the IGF. Through it, CGI.br aims to bring participants from government, business, scientific and technological sector, civil society, and Internet users together; to monitor and discuss issues that are central to the consolidation and expansion of an increasingly diverse, universal, and innovative Internet in Brazil;  that expresses the principles of freedom, human rights, and privacy, as stated in the CGI.br's Principles for the Governance and Use of the Internet.

This year's event will take place on 1-4 October in Manaus, in the state of Amazonas. The event’s official programme will include main sessions during each of the forum’s three official days (2-4 October). The programme features topics of great importance for the development of the Internet, along with 27 workshops organised by different actors of society interested in developing Brazil’s Internet. On 1 October, day zero will be held to give individuals and entities a chance to propose and organise diverse activities.
