The International Conference on Building Respect for Intellectual Property: Stimulating Innovation and Creativity will be held on 17-18 November 2016, in Shanghai, China. The event is organised by the World Intellectual Property Organization (WIPO) the Shanghai Municipal People’s Government, with the support of the State Intellectual Property Office of China.
The conference will bring together representatives from governments and the private sector, for two days of discussions and sharing of experiences on aspects related to the role of intellectual property (IP) in stimulating innovation and driving development and growth. The programme of the event will include topics such as: national IP strategies and the use of IP systems in achieving national development goals; IP commercialisation and utilisation; international cooperation on building respect for IP; IP disputes; IP adjudication and jurisprudence; etc.
Challenges related to IP enforecement in the context of technological developments and the continuously changing digital environment will also be addressed during the conference.
