San Jose, California, USA

The seventh edition of the IEEE Global Humanitarian Technology Conference (GHTC) will be held on 19–22 October 2017, in San Jose, California, USA.

The event, organised by IEEE Region 6 and IEEE Santa Clara Valley Section, will focus on the deployment and adaptation of technology for humanitarian goals and sustainable development.  Multiple sessions will showcase innovation and progress in technology and methodology addressing the sociocultural and socio-economic needs of vulnerable and resource-constrained end-user communities in developing and developed countries, and confronting the challenges of natural and man-made disasters.

Discussions will revolve around the use of technologies (such as the Internet of Things) to address challenges in areas such as poverty alleviation, healthcare, agriculture and food safety, quality education, connectivity and communication, humanitarian challenges and opportunities, and disaster mitigation, prepardness, response and recovery. On 19 October, a Forum for Empowering Off-Grid Communities through the 17 SDGs will be jointly organised by the IEEE Village and the United Nations.
