G20 Meeting of Digital Ministers

6 Apr 2017 - 7 Apr 2017

Düsseldorf, Germany

The first G20 Meeting of Digital Ministers will be held on 6–7 April 2017, in Düsseldorf, Germany. Held in the context of the G20 German presidency, the meeting is organised by the German Federal Ministry for Economic Affairs and Energy, and will follow a Multi-Stakeholder Conference on the same topic – 'Digitalisation: Policies for a Digital Future'.

Invitations to the meeting have been extended to ministers for digitalisation from the G20 countries, as well as from Netherlands, Norway, Singapore, and Spain. Representatives of several international organisations – such as the Organisation for Economic Co-operation and Development (OECD), the World Trade Organisation (WTO), and the United Nations Conference on Trade and Development (UNCTAD) – have also been invited to join the meeting.

The meeting will result in a declaration by G20 Digital Ministers, which will also draw on the outcomes of the 'Key Issues for Digital Transformation in the G20' event that was co-hosted by the Federal Ministry for Economic Affairs and Energy and the OECD on 12 January 2017, and of the conference on 'Digitising Manufacturing the G20 – Initiatives, Best Practices and Policy Approaches', organised by the Federal Ministry for Economic Affairs and Energy and set to take place on 16 and 17 March 2017.
