Expert Meeting on Cyber Security in West-Africa

Under the initiative of the Global Forum on Cyber Expertise (GFCE) 'Progressing Cybersecurity in Senegal and West Africa', the governments of Senegal and The Netherlands, and the United Nations Office on Drugs and Crime (UNODC) announced the first Expert Meeting on Cyber Security in West-Africa, which will take place on 12-13 April 2016 in Dakar, Senegal. This two-day meeting will bring together participants from the government, private sector, technical community, civil society and academia to address issues around cybersecurity threats, national cybersecurity strategies, incident response, awareness and legal frameworks. The first cybersecurity expert meeting seeks to;
  • Identify cybersecurity priorities in the West African region
  • Examine the ongoing challenges and lessons learned in understanding the issues
  • Support the development of cybersecurity policies, programmes and approaches by facilitating cross-sectorial communications between stakeholders
