The 2016-2017 Inter-Sessional Panel of the United Nations Commission on Science and Technology for Development (CSTD) will be held on 23-25 January, at the Palais de Nations, in Geneva, Switzerland.
The Panel will have as main themes:
- New innovation approaches to support the implementation of the sustainable development goals
- The role of science, technology and innovation in ensuring food security by 2030.
In addition, the Panel will examine issues related to the progress made in implementation of and follow-up to the outcomes of the World Summit on the Information Society (WSIS) at rge regional and international levels, with a focus on linkages between the WSIS process and the 2030 Agenda for Sustainable Development.
Findings and recommendations of the Panel are expected to be considered at the 20th session of the CSTD to be held in May 2017.
