Mr Josif Kjosev (Professor of Electronics, Ss. Cyril and Methodius University, North Macedonia) spoke about the Centre for Technology Transfer and Innovations – INNO-FEIT, and their aim to attract young people in the field of research and development, science and innovation. INNO-FEIT’s primary objective is to tackle the issue of brain-drain, i.e., to keep young people in North Macedonia and encourage them to innovate.

The organisation focuses on problem-based learning and centres its activities around workshops, events, provisions on supporting start-ups, engagement in international projects that address education, and collaborative case studies.

Mr Darko Giljevic (Account Manager, Nokia Networks) gave an overview of Nokia’s business activities. He stressed that Nokia is a lot more than just a mobile handset company and that its mission is to connect the whole world. Two divisions, namely Nokia Entreprise and Nokia Bell Labs, play an important role in pursuing this objective of the company. The speaker directed attention to Nokia’s Mission to the Moon, a telecom network project intended for operating on the moon that the company is involved in.

Lastly, Giljevic highlighted that Nokia is engaged in co-operation with local institutions including the Ss. Cyril and Methodius University through the IoT project as well as local companies in Macedonia.
