GSMA Tech4Girls initiative receives WEF 2019 award for achieving a better world for all

The Women Economic Forum (WEF) granted GSMA its 2019 award in the category “Iconic Company Creating a Better World for All” for its GSMA Tech4Girls initiative.” This award is a great honour and a strong acknowledgement of our efforts to achieve gender equality and take the leadership in reducing the digital gender gap.  We need to attract girls and women to tech as a career, changing perceptions on what technology can do for women,” highlighted GSMA Regional Marketing Director, Latin America, Paula Ferrari. GSMA Tech4Girls hinges on organising hands-on educational workshops to encourage girls to seek their education and career in STEAM (science, technology, engineering, art and design, and mathematics). It further compromises of workshops and activities that cover topics like artificial intelligence and coding a mobile app. Tech4Girls is part of the global GSMA’s Women4Tech programme that supports the United Nations Sustainable Development Goals in particularly SDG 5: to achieve gender equality and empower all women and girls.
