OSCE Chairmanship Conference on Cyber and ICT Security

Under the Slovak Chairmanship of OSCE, the OSCE-wide cybersecurity conference “Cyber/ICT Security for a safer future: The OSCE’s role in fostering regional cyber stability” was organised in Bratislava, 17-18 June. The two-day conference that complements the work on Confidence Building Measures (CBM) implementation aimed to provide a platform for public, private and non-governmental sectors and voices to engage in a comprehensive dialogue.

Over 200 participants, representing delegations of participating States as well as experts from private sector, civil society and technical community, contributed to variety of discussions and simulations. The agenda included discussions on international co-operative aspects that can help prevent the rise of tensions rising during and after such an incident; global recommendations that can be driven forward through the efforts of regional organizations, such as the OSCE, the Organization of American States (OAS), the ASEAN Regional Forum (ARF) and others; protection of the backbone of modern states, their critical infrastructures; and emerging issues like artificial intelligence and security.

Besides, the consultations of the Chair of the UN GGE, Ambassador Guilgerme de Aguiar Patriota of Brazil, with representatives of OSCE participating States took place, making this the first time that the UN and the OSCE proactively exchanged their views
